Guess what?!?!!
So, the location of the film shoot over the weekend was in Heber City, UT
AKA Nilbog!
If you have not yet experienced the amazingness that is Troll 2, please go do so now.
Like right now.
It's deemed the best worst movie for a reason.
I don't think there's anything left from the actual movie, so we just took pictures of everything that looked Nilbog-y

Here's some magic to take with you (for good measure)

Lights! ...Camera! ...What we did this weekend!

This weekend was an absolute blast for me -I got to help out on an actual film shoot!
Ok, so it was just for a short film and I didn't bump into Will Smith or anything like that
...but I got all up in behind the scene's business and have the photographic evidence to prove it.
Camaron had been helping out with a local production company earlier in the week, and let me come help out on Saturday. We filmed in an old high school that was shut down a few years ago. It was kind of eerie because there were still some posters on the walls, desks, even a trophy in the trophy case!
(apparently they didn't care much that they were 2001 champs)

Camaron's aunt is a professional make-up artist and has worked on tons of movie sets.
She's got skillz

The short film was a cute little story that involved a lot of 12 year-old girls kissing bathroom mirrors. I can't wait to see the final product. When we finally finished, I think everyone was way tired and started to get goofy. The left-over lipstick ended up going to good use.

The culprit behind the kiss mark in the previous photo

...and so now I'm basically Steven Spielberg. This photo doesn't lie.

Oh, Friday

My day so far:

Got up and went to work.
Got sick.
Had to have Camaron pick me up and bring me home.

Free Picture for YOU!!!

Most(?) of you may have picked up on the fact that I have somewhat of an art background.
Ask me to fill out any information sheet, and under "hobbies/interests/special skills" I'll always mention art. It's my fav. I had to change my major when I first started college because I was missing art so much.
When I'm working on a project, I feel most confident and in control.

Now, back to right now.
Ever since moving to Utah, I haven't felt super confident or in control. It's been a little difficult (Not horrible by any means. Don't fret). I'm just still adjusting to making new friends, getting to know my surroundings, missing my favorite Mexican food, etc.
I feel like if I add some more art into my daily life, I will be adding more
happiness/magic/funzies into my daily life.

This is where YOU come in.

I need some inspiration people.
After much deliberation, I've decided to begin something new on my blog.
I call it
Free Art from Me to You!!!

Here's how it works:
1. Think of something you'd enjoy having a quality picture/drawing of (I'm using the word quality loosely here -maybe I should have said quirky?).
It could be your portrait, your dog's portrait, your favorite movie scene, your imaginary favorite movie scene, a cool shape, a rainbow, a double rainbow, Harry Potter, Your dinner, Your new hairstyle, Your favorite quote, Something that has nothing to do with you, something cool... you name it

2. Now comment on this post or email me with your request. You may send photo references if you'd like, or just a very vivid description.

3. Make sure you are a follower of Pics-o-Andrea and leave your email in the comment or email.

4. In no time at all, you will receive a quality Andrea original in your inbox.

5. ***Optional: mention this post on your blog and I will make your picture a higher priority.
(let me know you made a mention)

...and it's FREEEEEEE!!!!!
(but they won't be forever, so jump on it!)

*Free art requests end on Friday, Sept 16!!!

There you have it.
Help me get my creative juices flowing by getting your creative juices flowing!
comment on this post or email me your request at:
(put "Free Art" as your subject)

FYI: There is no limit to how many requests you may place:)

Freakin Awesome Cookies

I know you've had chocolate chip cookies before (don't ask how I know).
Now, think about the best kind you've ever had...
MMMmmmmmmm, right?
I'm just going to throw this out there, but I'm guessing you didn't make those best-ever ones, did you?
No offense, but think about it -a lot of the freakin amazing chocolate chip cookies you've had were probably from a bakery or restaurant (or maybe that's just me).
Well, it no longer has to be that way.
The next time you have a freakin amazing chocolate chip cookie, it will be piping hot from your oven.
Yes, I found the recipe.
THE recipe.

If you've had experience making cc cookies, you may have found that most recipes are pretty similar; this one is not.
Trust me. Make these right now. Then write me a love note (you won't be able to help yourself).

Makes about 3 dozen cookies
2 1/8 c bleached all-purpose flour (about 10.5 oz)
1/2 t table salt
1/2 t baking soda
12 T butter, melted and cooled slightly
1 c brown sugar (7 oz)
1/2 c sugar (3.5 oz)
1 large egg
1 large egg yolk
2 t vanilla
1-2 c chocolate chips
Heat oven to 325 degrees. Adjust oven racks to upper- and lower-middle positions.
Mix flour, salt, and baking soda together in medium bowl; set aside.
Either by hand or with electric mixer, mix butter and sugars in a large bowl until thoroughly blended. Mix in egg, yolk, and vanilla. Add dry ingredients; mix until just combined. Stir in chips.

Form dough into balls (I made mine about 1") and place on parchment-lined cookie sheets. (Dough can be refrigerated up to 2 days or frozen up to 1 month—shaped or not.)

Bake, reversing cookie sheets’ positions halfway through baking, until cookies are light golden brown and outer edges start to harden yet centers are still soft and puffy, 15 to 18 minutes (start checking at 13 minutes - these cookies really do need longer baking time than most average cookie dough recipes). Frozen dough requires an extra 1 to 2 minutes baking time. Cool cookies on cookie sheets. Serve or store in airtight container.

*2 big things to pay attention to:
-Make sure the butter is all the way melted (this is very different from most recipes).
-Lining the baking sheets with parchment paper (Seriously, the cookies don't stick at all, and the bottoms don't get over-done).
-Switching the postion of the cookie sheets from the top rack to the center rack (and vis versa) halfway through baking.

Black Like Me (Yes, this is the book that inspired the best Boy Meets World episode. Ever. And yes, we watched that episode today)

Raw food recipe book (Don't worry, I'm not going 100%. Although, I almost wish I could -too bad I just got a job at a bakery. What am I saying?? I just got a job at a bakery!!!)

...and I just love this.

As mentioned in my prior post, while us kids were playing the park, the adults became competitive.
Somehow, they initiated a crazy arm wrestling and leg wrestling match.
And because the internet needs this, here is the documentation:

Suuunday In The Park

Camaron's grandpa turned 82 this week!!!

We had a huge party at their house last night with all of the cousins and relatives and funzies.
While the adults were mingling, us rowdy kids decided to play at the nearby park

Catch him, Candace!!!

Camaron loves kids. A LOT.
Cam and I had this^ much fun on the slide. Train!

While we were gone, apparently the adults had an arm and leg wrestling competition.
They're lucky I wasn't there. Very lucky.
It was so fun to finally meet all of Cam's cousins and there was a TON of key lime pie
=a successfully awesome evening
