And He Shall be Called...

...we have no idea.

One of the most frequent questions we've gotten since announcing the pregnancy has been some form of
"Do you have any names picked out?"

Always such a good question.
Now, an answer on the other hand...

For some reason, Cam and I have just had a lot of difficulty with boy names. Girl names were a breeze. We had like 3 names we loved right off the bat. Before we found out the gender, I had an inkling that lil beebee was going to be a boy -only because I couldn't think of any boy names (Is that my perception of how the world works? Oh well).

It's funny what a big deal names seem to be. I feel so pressured to give our little boy a name that stands out, isn't difficult to spell/pronounce, can't easily be made fun of, sounds great with our last name, and isn't the same name as any difficult student I ever had. I may be making this a bigger deal than it needs to be.

Now, I know you are a creative, thoughtful, loving bunch.
Care to lend a hand?

What are some of your favorite little boy names???

fyi: whenever we do pick out a name we love, we plan to keep it secret until baby is born. We found out early on that people love to share their opinions (positive or negative) on names you may love -and that may taint your love of that name. No tainting!

  1. My future sister-in-law named her 2 little boys Hank and Bo! My mother-in-law completely freaked out each time but she stuck to her guns and named them what her and her hubby loved :)

And those boys are so stinkin' cute it kinda enhances their names, ya know??

Anyways, good luck picking out names! This is a fun and exciting time! :) :)

  3. I hear ya! Girl names, for some reason, are so much easier than boy names. Because they're so hard, me and mark have kept an ongoing list of boy names we like just in case we have another boy. Some were immediately knocked off the list by either of us but we kept them on for soem reason and now this can be the reason! Here it is: blake, cody, colby, conner, dawson, daxton, decker, forrest, kasen, keaton, koen. Hope that helps!

  4. Those reasons are exactly why we picked Carson. Not too trendy, not too unique, can't be made fun of, stands out, sounds masculine ... It was so hard to agree on, though. Hubby still doesn't love it 100%. I, on the other hand, think it fits my little boy perfectly. Especially because he adores cars! I must confess that I got the idea about 12 years ago when I was obsessed with TRL and ... Carson Daly.

  6. Hmm maybe we'll have a girl since we have a boy name but can't decide on a girl name...we'll see Tuesday ;)

And good luck. Boy names are tricky!

  7. My favorite boy names are Kingston, Jagger and Stryder! Although that last one is after a Lord of The Rings character! :)

  8. I don't have any suggestions for you, but I totally agree with your closing statement: No tainting! Plus, I love the suspense. Best of luck!!!

  9. I think that's a good plan to keep the name to yourself until he's born. I kinda wish we would've kept it a secret. Our boy is due exactly a month from today (hooray) and we decided on the name Finn. It was pretty much the only name we could agree on plus I love it so Finn it is!

    Congrats!

  10. I have such a hard time keeping my mouth shut on names we love. I am going to try really hard with my next baby to keep my lips zipped. Boy names are hard for me but I like "Bronte"

  11. I think girl names just come easier to us as girls perhaps... But you guys will find the right one and know it when you do :)

also, great call on keeping the name secret. No one can taint it once your baby's here and has his or her name!! It will be the perfect fit then!

  12. I don't have a list of boy names but you can use my list of dog names: Franz, Alfred, Bernard, Herbert, Martin,
Jenkins, Winston, Niles. (I like using Butler names for dogs.)

  13. i totally think people are quick to share their (negative) opinions on names! don't they know how hard naming a kid is?! i am terrified that someone close to us will steal "our" names..i feel like monica from friends about our names. ha. we like 'finley' for a boy. (and aren't even close to having kids yet!)

p.s. i just found your blog, so i'm backtracking now on old posts! :)

    1. I love Finley too! That one was on our list for a while. Maybe it still is? I don't even know. We pretty much have a name now ...unless I keep being indecisive:)
