Keepin it cool.

Fox's favorite outdoor activity right now is playing with the water spigot in our backyard. After watching me use it so often to water our garden, he figured out how to turn it on and has been in love ever since. He fills buckets and cups, water plants, tries to drink from it, and gets himself soaked every time.

In the second photo, he's saying "uh oh" because he was trying to turn the water off, but "accidentally" turned it up higher. He did this like 17 times in a row, and made the same face each time:) It's so funny how entertaining he finds the water. It's also a win-win, because while he's splashing and having a blast, I'll just pull up a chair and read or work on a new high score in 2048.

Sunday Badminton

So many high school memories flooded back last night. Did I ever tell you I lettered in badminton in high school? I played freshman-junior year and it was so intense. Ha, not really, but it was a lot of fun. I don't know how I lettered, I think it was through some kind of default, because I honestly wasn't that good. And I doubt I even remember all of the rules anymore, but last night was so much fun. After dinner at my parent's house, we all headed outside to watch Fox play with the dog. Somehow, the badminton equipment emerged. We didn't put up the net, we just hit it back and forth. The weather was perfect and it smelled wonderful outside.
I was a little worried Fox would get tired of being the monkey in the middle, but he really didn't seem to mind at all. He just liked carrying around his racket and hit us a few times, and had a blast.
The highlight of the evening wasn't captured on my phone, but it was glorious. Somehow, the birdie ended up in that huge bush behind Bethany in the above photo^^. I went to hit it out and ended up hitting it backwards over the wall:/ As we investigated though, it didn't go over the wall, so we knew it was in the bush somewhere. So flashlights emerged, somehow Tim ended up on the wall, people were crawling in the bush... After way too long, we finally found the birdie. But as the last of the sunlight had disappeared, so had our badminton-playing ambitions. Maybe they'll be back next week? I'm thinking if this awesome weather continues, there's no way we'd pass up on it.

p.s. this hot pink pregnant woman hits 33 weeks this week. Only 7 more to go!

Bowling With The Bumpers Down

Last week, I really had a hankering to go bowling as a family (I think it was triggered by an Arthur episode). We've been trying to be better about doing actual family activities and not just watching TV together every evening, so this just worked out perfectly. I found a groupon and we headed out to play a few games. It was extra fun because we had the bumpers down and weren't even trying -we just wanted to see how involved we could get Fox. He was into it for about the first ten minutes, then he seemed to only care about walking in front of other people trying to bowl :/

When we did get Fox to help us bowl, it was so cute hearing him say, "Bye, ball" as it rolled down the lane. And he really loved pushing the buttons on the keypad that you type your names into. And in the end, Camaron and I both had pretty decent scores -for bowling the majority of the time with our non-dominant hands (holding Fox in the other), or rolling the ball with Fox :)

Easter 2014

I loved Easter this year so much. It was such a great day. We started off with eeeeaaarly church, with a lot of great Easter messages, then the Easter bunny came while Fox took his nap. There was a little trail of paper eggs from Fox's room to the loot. It was so fun to watch Fox figure out how to follow the trail. We just mentioned there was candy at the end and he stayed focused:) For some reason, he only collected the green paper eggs as he followed the trail:)
Later, we stopped by Camaron's parent's house, because we had heard the Easter bunny had been by and left us some special treats. It is so fun that when the Easter bunny goes to their house, he likes to set up hunts for the big kids (Camaron, me, Cam's sister, and her bf). I still doubt we found all of the eggs. My favorites were where he hid our baskets (see above pic) and that we found Easter eggs in the fridge in the egg holder:)
Then, we finished off the beautiful day with dinner at my parents', followed by another egg hunt. This one was just for Fox (he's the lucky/only grandchild on that side of the family).
p.s. those ears ^^^ line up suspiciously well on Grandpa Jones' head...

p.s.s. only 8 more weeks until we become a family of four!

Summer Has Begun

Not too incredibly surprising, but it seems that summer has decided to grace Arizona with its presence this week. We're already experiencing temperatures in the 90s :/ so it's high time we bust out the outdoor water activities!!!

Yesterday, one of our friends invited all of the neighborhood over to play on their giant inflatable water slide. Seriously, that thing was so cool. I wanted to play on it really bad. Fox wanted to enjoy it too, but there was a water cannon at the bottom that kids kept spraying each other in the face (and everyone else's faces), and Fox was not a fan of that -neither was I. I mean, we were fine with other kids getting sprayed, just not us ("Wa wa wa watch the hair" -Uncle Jesse). Plus, to get to the top of the slide, you had to essentially climb this inflatable rock wall -cool, but not quite where Fox is at yet. So we just partied it up on the super cool kiddie slide next to the giant inflatable one:)

Pools, slip-n-slides, splash pads, sprinklers, hoses on trampolines ...Oh, I'm getting excited.
