Chocolate Oreo Cake


A chocolate layered cake with a cream cheese and Oreo filling, and a Ghirardelli chocolate glaze on top? I would be sneaking a taste like Fox (above) is too!

I made this the other day for a family birthday party, but honestly it needs no special occasion. This cake deserves to be made and you deserve to eat it. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

1 pkg. (2-layer size) devil's food cake mix
1 bar (4 oz) Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate baking chocolate
1/4 cup butter
1 pkg. (8oz) cream cheese
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups thawed cool whip
15 Oreos, coarsely crushed

Instructions

Heat oven to 350F
Prepare cake batter and bake in 2 (9") round pans as directed on package. Cool cakes in pans for 10 min. Invert onto wire racks; gently remove pans. Cool cakes completely.
Microwave chocolate and butter in small microwaveable bowl on high for 1 min. or until butter is melted. Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Cool 5 min. Meanwhile, beat cream cheese and sugar in large bowl with mixer until blended. Gently stir in Cool Whip and crushed cookies. Place one cake on plate, spread with cream cheese mixture. Top with remaining cake. Spread top with chocolate glaze; let stand ten min or until firm. Keep refrigerated.
