We're back in our house and life is just about back to normal. 24+ hours without power (we're not exactly sure when it was turned back on. Sometime last night) made for quite the adventure. Our neighborhood still looks a little messy with tree branches broken off in yards and some fences torn up, but not too bad. And the traffic lights are working, so no complaints here.
Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and offers to help. There will definitely be a lot less panic if another crazy storm comes through again while I'm home alone with the kiddos. Huge shoutout to Camaron for leaving work to come rescue us. And to my mom for dealing with panicky-me and taking us in for two nights and making us yummy food and letting me borrow your car ...and this list could go on forever.
I know this wasn't an insanely huge disaster or anything like that, but it had the potential to have been pretty miserable. What I've taken away from it is that 72 hour kits are a huge blessing. Get one. Also, be quick to pray. You need that comfort. Be safe out there everyone. Monsoon season in AZ can get pretty crazy.
