Video // Sloane Age 2 Interview

A little tradition we started when Fox turned two has been birthday interview videos. When preparing to film Sloane's video this week, we looked back at the ones we had done of Fox. Wow! Him and Sloane at age two are so much alike! It was so fun watching his little video and remembering how little he was and realizing how much he has grown up. It gives me mixed feelings. Both about him and Sloane.

Of course it's sad when kids get older, because you know they'll never be their former age again and may never have the same mannerisms and cute ways of saying things in their tiny voices, but it's also fun to think about who they're becoming. Fox has changed quite a bit since his age two interview, so it's kind of blowing my mind to think of how different Sloane will be when she's almost four, like Fox. But for now, I'm just grateful we have this tiny little voice to always look back on in this video:)

p.s. be sure to change the settings to HD

Happy Second Birthday, Sloane!

Yesterday, Sloane turned two. We were busy having a little family party (full of crepes and cake!), so this post is a little belated. Sorry.

I still vividly remember Camaron asking me what I thought our baby would look like. I was laying in the hospital bed in the labor and delivery room, getting myself ready to start pushing. Our second baby was almost here. We had decided not to find out the gender this pregnancy. Right after Camaron posed his question, I immediately pictured a little newborn girl with lots of dark hair. It was just moments later that I heard Camaron announce, "it's a girl!" And then I met Sloane. Our little, dark haired beauty.

Her hair has lightened up a lot since then, but Sloane is still our little baby (even though she's two now!). She is also still Fox's biggest fan. She loves/copies just about everything he does and has a lot of the same favorites, except when it comes to T.V. shows (She is a diehard My Little Pony fan). And even though she sounds exactly like Fox at this age and they've been mistaken for twins at the grocery store on multiple occasions, Sloane is very much an individual and has a very unique personality.

She has a gift for telling knock knock jokes in a way that will always end in laughter. Not her own laughter -she's pretty serious about joke telling. But her laugh is great. And she has a smile that is just contagious. Sloane has a great love for everyone she meets. She is a very friendly girl. She is obsessed with babies. She'll always point them out. And when my sister's little twin newborns are around, Sloane is drawn to them like a magnet.

Sloane has a lot of favorites (Mickey, MLP (as mentioned earlier), pink, slides, and the bathroom sink faucet) ...but don't be fooled, none of these will work if you try to bribe her. Girl cannot be bribed into anything. She is also pretty much fearless. If there's a diving board at the pool, Sloane will find it. She loves books and most all foods. And she has great hair (she trained it to part to the side all on her own).

It's so hard to remember the part of our life that didn't include Sloane. She just fits and completes our family so perfectly. Having her around brings us so much happiness. I'm so grateful to be your mom, Sloane! I'm so proud of what an amazing little girl you are becoming. We love you so, so much! Happy birthday, Sloane!!!

Free Laurel Wreath Clip Art

free laurel wreath graphics clip art

Since combining my art more into my blogging, I've been meaning to do some art freebies. So here it is, my first official free download since becoming littlekitdesign.com: Free Laurel Wreath Graphics!

I use wreaths and banners like these all the time for all kinds of projects. Sometimes, it's just nice to have a few simple graphics on hand (and not have to pay a ton for them), so I thought it would be really fun to draw some up and make them available to all you lovely people.

You'll receive a zip folder with all of the images in white as well as black. They are .png files (so they have a clear background), but I'm also providing an .ai file if you like working in Adobe Illustrator. Also, here is an easy tutorial that shows you how to customize the colors of the images using Picmonkey:)

These images are meant strictly to be used in the design process. Please do not sell them or give them away to others. Thank you!

Snapshots

It doesn't truly feel like summer unless you have pineapples on your fingernails. #Amirite???? No, but I am so seriously obsessed with these. And it was basically a huge travesty that they only lasted like two days before the polish started chipping and looking trashy (but did that stop me from wearing that polish anyway for another week??). Would it be super weird to go back to the nail place and ask the lady to give me these nails again? Especially since she giggled the whole time when she originally did it because she thought I was so silly??

Ok, ok, yes other things have been going on besides my nails getting polished. Fox fake graduated from preschool! Camaron got a new job! I made dinner! And more!

Fox has been big on typing lately. He always tries to get in on the action when Camaron and I are working on our computers (you know, the best possible time to randomly start pressing buttons on our keyboards). So we have started having him earn computer time. When he practices typing, we write out a few words for him on Pages, then he re-types each word. He loves searching-out the letters and symbols on the keyboard. I love that he's learning new skills. Plus, look how cute and little he looks with the laptop on his lap!

^^^Sloane, "reading" up a storm:)

Fox's graduation was so much fun! I really loved how much he loved it. He had been counting down the days for weeks! The kids wore their cute little hats, sang a special graduation day song to us, got awards (Fox got the award of "sweetest boy"-insert a million sappy heart faces here-), then we all ate treats and the kids had a water party!

Don't let this picture fool you. I know it looks like Fox is triumphantly climbing to the top of this huge inflatable slide, about the slide through a little waterfall into an attached inflatable pool. nope. He's climbing down the ladder. He was a little hesitant to slide the slide at the party, but he liked climbing the ladder:) ps check out his sick barb wired temp tatt. And toenail polish:)

Sloane is basically fearless these days. She was a big fan of the slip-n-slide at the party ...and of eating every cupcake and cookie she could find.

Fox is still only three, so it wasn't his "real" preschool graduation, but he finished his first year. And did AMAZING! We love his teacher so much and can't wait for his summer science program to start up:)

And yes, as mentioned up top, Camaron got a new job! Well, it's actually a promotion at one of his other jobs (that he is so gonna rock!). So it's looking like no more late night work schedule! More family fun time! Yipppeeee!!!

More summer fun to come!

Semi-related: I really want to make a summer "to do" list for our family. You know, fun activities, places to visit, things to eat... I've never done it before, but I accomplish so much more when I write things down. Any recommendations of what we should include??
